Thrift Tips

10:34 PM

I've mentioned this before but I absolutely LOVE to thrift. It's like a going on a treasure hunt. I mean you're looking for something and the fact that you would find something that you like, is still in good condition, and fits .... isn't that destiny?! And it's like $4? Does it get any better?
However, I know thrifting can be a PAIN. Thrift stores smell, there aren't fitting rooms, you search and search sometimes to find nothing. I get it. My sister hates thrifting but she's so good at it. My mom loves it but sucks at it. Haha. Thrifting is a science and I'm here to share some tips 😉

1. Go with an idea of what you're looking for
This is one of the most important aspects. There are a lot of things and thrift stores are usually not well organized (in my experiences) so you can search for hours without finding something you like. For example, I went two weeks ago looking for a vintage blazer and focused on that. I found exactly what I was looking for.

A week ago, I went and searched for a vintage bag and found it.

2. Go with an open mind
Keep in mind that clothes can be altered. You can tailor you jeans, you can tuck in a shirt, and cut slits in your jeans. My sister and I would absolutely love to find something and create a project. We would watch DIY tutorials on Youtube and then go thrifting. I have gone thrifting for different pants that I can cut to create a different look at home.
Look for quality items. I can usually spot a work of superior craftsmanship a mile away. It's like I have a magnet LOL. I look at the materials - is that suede? Cashmere?

3. Be creative
This is one of the things I love the most about thrifting. If you can find the beauty in some items then that's the best and you can create a completely unique  and beautiful look. I love that I have something that you won't find in Nordstrom, Zara, or anywhere else.

What are your thoughts? Do you have any tips on thrifting? I would LOVE to hear them!

Thank you so much for taking time of your day and spending it with me! Thank you!
